Readers Explain the Responsibilities of the School Board | Ailishan News

Applications for the 2022 general election will begin on December 6. Since the seat of the Education Committee is no longer non-partisan, those who are interested in running for the Education Committee must submit an application for March Elementary School between December 6 and December 17. Although citizens will vote for many candidates, please be aware of what the school board members can monitor and what they cannot control.

The local board of education does not set or select courses for its school system. Courses are selected by the State Board of Education, and its members are appointed by the General Assembly. The North Carolina Board of Education is composed of the Lieutenant Governor, the State Treasurer, and 11 members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the General Assembly for a term of eight years (three general members, eight from designated education districts throughout the state) and North Carolina Public Education Department (NCDPI).

What is the role of the Education Committee?

The role of the school board can be summarized as follows:

– Provide vision and direction for the school system

– Develop policies in accordance with state laws to establish standards, accountability, and evaluations for the basic operations of the school district.

– Prepare budget to submit to county commissioner

-Hiring, support and evaluation director.

– Perform judicial functions by holding appropriate hearings.

– Advocate for school districts, faculty and staff, especially students, in all interactions with other government entities and the public.

There is a code of ethics for board members, and each board member must meet legal requirements and receive at least 12 hours of training each year. Training includes, but is not limited to, public school law, public school finance, the duties and responsibilities of local education committees, and ethics training required by the state.

If you are really interested in serving on the Mount Airy City Schools Board of Education and are passionate about our school and community, I strongly recommend that you disclose your interest. Supporting students in our school system is very beneficial. Contact current board members, attend monthly board meetings, and learn about current issues and concerns facing North Carolina education.

You must live in the city school district and be in the area where you are applying to operate:

– Zone B (Mount Airy #2, #3 Voting Precincts), one seat

– Zone C (Mount Airy #4, #5 Voting Precincts), one seat

– Zone D (Mount Airy #6, #7 Voting Precincts), one seat

-Ordinary member (all Mount Airy polling areas), one seat

If you are sincerely interested in serving students at Mount Airy City Schools, please contact existing board members and study the responsibilities and importance of the position.

When I read an article about the city fund for various projects in the city center ("City designated $295,000 for the city center project", November 21, Mount Airy News), I wondered if other companies have any value in the city .

Companies on Main Street will benefit from this huge amount of funding, also funded by Mount Airy Downtown Inc. Group. As far as I know, Main Street companies paid additional taxes and they should benefit from it. However, it seems that our city commissioner seems to spend more time and money on the street, while others only need to take care of themselves. The money will come from the balance of the municipal government's funds, and "hope" they can recover their money from the Federal Relief Program Act.

So the city is operating in hope. It must be an easy job, just spend money hoping they can get the money back. For many years, the city has been pinning its hopes on taxpayers' money.

For many years, Donna’s barber shop has been hoping for help to survive. And, yes, the city helped in the corner. However, when real support was needed for the State Department of Transportation to solve the problem of the city and state flooding her business, we found nothing. The only thing they said was spending her money to solve the water runoff problem in cities and states, which could cost thousands of dollars.

From the first day she opened, she has paid thousands of dollars, lost income, and still has the same problem. I do need to mention that the city did follow the requirements of the state government, which helps, but the state government needs to do more to eliminate the problem. A few years ago, the state added drainage pipes to help, but put the drainage pipes in front of her business.

It is foolish to collect runoff water in front of the business instead of before it arrives. Common sense, obviously they don't, will tell you to stop before the problem arises, not afterwards. The city needs some pillars and supports its business. Donna’s barbershop is not trying to benefit from the city or state, just to survive. State and city runoff should be controlled by "states and cities". Not by private citizens.

We — when I said us, I was referring to Donna and her family, because we stood together as a family — were told that we were not the only ones with runoff problems. So why don't they solve other problems instead of spending a lot of money on Spencer's property? Maybe it was for large sums of money, not to support the long-term businesses in our city, and attracted countless people from many other states to her shop for haircuts.

We need a complete committee that pays attention to every citizen and company.

Our family has been doing business in Mount Airy since 1965. We don't want special treatment, only equal treatment.

Americans love their cars and buy them in large quantities (816 per 1,000 people). Europeans also like cars, but they buy less (482 in France, 475 in the UK), probably because they pay too much tax and cannot afford cars. In Europe, people with an annual income of $40,000 pay $6,000 more in taxes than Americans with the same income; people with an income of $100,000 pay $16,000 more in taxes. Heavy taxes pay for a generous European welfare state.

Mr. Biden is offering a similar welfare state in exchange for your vote, and he is lying when he says that taxes are levied on "rich people" and wealthy companies will pay for it. In the end, everyone will pay more taxes, possibly payroll and value added tax (VAT). Therefore, if you support Mr. Biden’s plan and then decide that you want a newer and more expensive car, you may not be able to afford it; you have already used it in exchange for a more generous American welfare program. Oh, you may not be able to afford the bigger house you always wanted.

It seems that some of our county commissioners have nothing to do but pass resolutions.

The first is the collapse of the "Coca-Cola machine". It now appears that they think there is another battle to fight with another resolution. According to the November 3rd Mount Airy News article "FBI was told to stay away from Surrey County schools", the Commissioner’s latest resolution protested against the FBI’s "convening a meeting to assist in the development of a plan to respond to threats to public school administrators." Board members, Teachers and staff. "

As early as the early 2000s, public schools across the country were dealing with bomb threats. As the principal, I participated in training courses sponsored by SBI and FBI. Many of the strategies learned in these meetings led to the development of agreements that may still exist in our school and district level emergency action plans today. My advice is to at least listen to the advice of FBI professionals. Local officials may learn something that can better protect children or school employees.

Some time ago, the secretary of the county party committee declared war on the roadside garbage in our county. I am not sure whether the committee members passed a resolution to support anti-littering efforts. If not, there should be. I appreciate their efforts and agree with them 100% on this issue. But now, we are exposed to another kind of garbage.

I make recommendations for the resolution of the next Surrey County Commissioner. It should deal with people who drive around Surrey County and pollute the environment with different kinds of garbage. It is not the physical garbage mentioned above. This is the verbal and visual garbage displayed on the vehicle, and all eyes can see hatred and blasphemy, including our children or grandchildren. Such vivid sexual language and swear words are ugly and harder to explain to children. Although this kind of garbage may be "legal" under the First Amendment, it is wrong and needs to be stopped.

Obviously, people who use this offensive language in a vehicle are eager to be noticed. Maybe we can find a constructive way to meet their concerns. I think the next county magistrate’s resolution should instruct our sheriff’s department staff to help these people by giving them the utmost attention. We can also seek help from the local municipal police. who knows? Maybe these people are just lost and need guidance. Most likely, they may need advice on how to operate the vehicle in a safer way. In any case, let us consistently give them the attention they deserve every day.

I volunteered to help the Surrey County Commissioner draft this resolution.

Referring to the article "FBI was told to stay away from Surry Schools" published on November 3, I think the county commissioner did not grasp the main points. For me, the reason for this statement by Attorney General Garland is to protect people related to public schools, not to prevent parents from speaking at school board meetings.

In addition, in response to GJ Harmon’s letter in yesterday’s newspaper, I was curious about the question he asked his parents: "Are schools in Surrey County and Mount Airy instilling this poisonous and acrimonious anti-Martin into our children? Luther, anti-civil rights?, anti-equality, anti-American venom?" Does he really think the school teaches this? Has he visited the school classroom? The website he listed is invalid, showing "page not found".

As long as it is carried out in a civilized manner, parents absolutely have the right to express their opinions at the school board meeting. Attorney General Garland is worried about groups that want to hurt, disrupt meetings, and spread their agendas.

This is a reference to the article "FBI was told to stay away from Surrey School" in The Mount Airy News published on November 3 by Ryan Kelly.

I commend Commissioner (Eddie) Harris and Van Tucker for their position in the parent business where FBI agents invaded our local school to express their opinions/objections on Critical Race Theory (CRT).

You all know that CRT is deeply buried in the 2021-2022 NC K-12 standard approved by the NC Board of Education, right? (Https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/03/north-carolinas-new-k-12-standards-push-critical-race-theory-deep-into-curriculum/)-especially social studies courses.

As stated in the reference, "Despite the opposition of Republican Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, members of the State Board of Education-most of whom were elected by Democratic Governor Roy Cooper-voted to pass the updated curriculum. He said that the new The standards reflect the political agenda of the board of directors and "instill in our students ideas that oppose our great country."

The question is: Are schools in Surrey County and Mount Airy instilling this poisonous and acrimonious anti-Martin Luther, anti-civil rights, anti-equality, and anti-American venom into our children? Has any parent surveyed it? If so, have any parents shared their concerns with any school board?

Merely repeating the current euphemism "Let's go to Brandon" is not enough to eliminate this hatred. Take action as Mark Levin suggested in Chapter 7 of his book "American Marxism." how? Election for the school board. Write to the North Carolina, Surrey, and Airy Mountain School Boards. Speak respectfully at the school board meeting. participate. Join our county commissioner (hope the city commissioner does the same) to fight back.

The Mount Airy News on Wednesday, October 13th contained three unanswered questions:

1. Political cartoons related to social networks;

2. Their view, "Yes, the government can shrink", and

3. The article, "The House of Representatives passed a debt limit vote to avoid default."

Social networks (1) The insecurities that plunder our young people are only present in the narrative of promoting Marxist socialism (ie, democratic and progressive socialists). This cartoon is in place.

Yes, the government can shrink (2) and encourage voters to support the final comments of candidates who advocate a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution are absolutely closely related. The government is funded by the people. By the way, the people must maintain a balanced family budget. Why does the federal government spend money unconstrained and irresponsibly without the consent of a representative?

The assertion in the previous article (3) that "the daily payments to social security beneficiaries, disabled veterans, and active military personnel will also be questioned" is incorrect. These are all included in the "debt service", which can be paid regardless of the debt ceiling. According to the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, public debt services (approximately US$44 billion per month) are paid from approximately US$230 billion in monthly income collected from taxpayers. The debt service did not default.

However, the debt ceiling involves interest on debt arising from future expenditures on social engineering projects or other pork barrel projects, such as the debt contained in the US$1.5 trillion and US$3.5 trillion bills that the Marxist Socialist Party is currently mediating.

This is based on the "Their View" comment in the October 6th edition of Mount Airy News, "When we argue, we will all win."

In light of the letter from Attorney General Merrick Garland to the FBI on October 4, this was initiated at the request of the National Association of School Boards (NSBA). In that letter, he authorized the FBI to use their legal power to criminalize the First Amendment rights of parents to speak at school board meetings to promote the education of children; not indoctrination (ie CRT).

I think that in this case, parents can use civic discourse to express themselves. As the author of the cited article writes, by exercising their First Amendment rights, parents "seek to shape and promote ... constructive participation across political differences."

The heavy hand of federal bureaucrats, under the guise of unsubstantiated threats and auspices of domestic terrorism, into a community's business of holding elected school board members accountable is not warranted.

Reporter Tom Joyce definitely likes the word "mulling", as evidenced by his second use of major technological upgrades in the October 3rd edition of Mount Airy News.

I personally believe that any upgrade of the City Hall (not the entire building) of the Mount Airy Municipal Building will become an asset to the citizens of the city. I attended two meetings there and was shocked by the city's current technological backwardness. No one can hear anything from any commissioner! The speaker's voice can only be heard when the public is solicited. So, yes, consideration is the correct word used by Mr. Joyce, because the only thing participants hear is incomprehensible muttering. Even if you check the meeting records online, you cannot clearly see or hear what is going on in the meeting.

My chapel has better technology than the committee room to help participatory worship. Let us participate in the plan and hold participatory city council meetings.

Most American presidents bless the American people. They usually work to improve the American economy and unite the country when possible. On the contrary, Mr. Biden seems to want us to be sick. How to explain the following Biden policy?

(1) The closed pipeline makes us dependent on foreign oil;

(2) Continuous pandemic unemployment benefits, 300-600 US dollars per week, persuaded some people to stop working and destroyed many businesses;

(3) Commit to increase taxes again to further restrict investment and create employment;

(4) With the continued zero interest rate, spending in unprecedented amounts to increase inflation expectations to 5%, more than twice the usual target;

(5) Hope to extend the national debt limit again to close to 28 trillion U.S. dollars;

(6) Open our southern border to hundreds of thousands of uncensored and unvaccinated immigrants who will be eligible for benefits paid by U.S. taxes, free medical care, and free education;

(7) Provided 80 billion U.S. dollars in armaments to the Taliban in Afghanistan and an air base worth 10 billion U.S. dollars, which may be our Chinese enemy;

(8) Declaring confidence in General Mark Milley, his treason will encourage further military incitement;

(9) Refused to comment on credible allegations that he and his family were paid by the governments of Ukraine, Russia and China due to the influence of the President;

(10) Advocate a critical racial theory, which teaches that whites hate blacks and are responsible for their relative poverty. Only a violent revolution can restore equality; and see that BLM further encourages racial division and allocates police funds;

(11) Watching his party elect district attorneys and prosecutors refuse to punish street crimes, causing criminal chaos in many cities in the United States;

(12) The blockade and suspension of evictions caused by non-payment of rent have permanently destroyed many small American businesses, reminding us that one of the main goals of Marxism is to destroy the middle class;

We recalled that Mr. Obama wanted to fundamentally change the United States. I wonder if Mr. Biden is not just Mr. Obama’s assistant, replacing American democratic capitalism with something closer to socialism?

I just read an article about the proposed Andy Griffith Mural ("Andy Griffith Mural Looks At Downtown," September 22, Airy Mountain News). I have a few comments.

The photo mural collage depicted in the article is recognized as a sketch. That is not a sketch. This is a photo collage.

In my opinion, the proposed artist is not an artist, but a technician. He just reproduces the photo image with shaded patches, such as "painting by number".

Lizzie Morrison leads the team to believe that you are hiring a real artist to create your image. I believe this is wrong. Essentially, Mount Airy Downtown and the Tourism Development Bureau paid $50,000 for an oversized illustration.

Likewise, this illustration, this photo montage, is not art defined in history.

I urge the current members of the Mount Airy City Council to choose John Pritchard to fill the vacant committee seats (please refer to “Parliament Candidates Run for Vacancies” in the “Mount Airy News” issued on September 3).

For the purpose of full disclosure, I consider John a friend.

Having said that, John is one of the very few people I know who dares to speak the truth to power. He did so by using relevant facts to support his position. Many local citizens know that John has participated in city council meetings and planning meetings for more than 12 years, so he has a good grasp of past and current council activities and board policies and procedures. In addition, his extensive banking and financial management work experience ensures that he has the knowledge and ability to accurately assess the financial advantages/disadvantages of economic development proposals and other issues submitted to the city council for review.

It is no secret that John has always been an outspoken and consistent advocate of honesty and transparency in the city government.

I believe that John Pritchard is very capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of commissioners responsibly and seamlessly. His courage, integrity, business knowledge, and commitment to Mount Airy will help the committee discuss how to best advance the city's economic development plan, while strengthening and maintaining its history and traditions.

In the past few days, the granite markers of the time capsule have been installed on the former courthouse square in Dobson.

Those who did not seem to be involved in the creation of the mark knew that Surrey County was created through various actions by the Colonial Council in 1770 and 1771. The creator believes that “Surrey County applied to become a county in 1770 and was approved by the state government in 1771.”

How can a non-existent county "apply" for self-construction? Members of the colony assembly created the county.

How could a non-existent "country" approve such an application? Was North Carolina a British colony in 1771?

This example of the ignorance of the county manager’s office and the county commissioner is literally carved in stone. Sadly, it is our "Jim Crow World War I Memorial", our "Jeff Davis World War II and Other War Memorials" and our "Robert E. Lee Civil War Memorial."

It seems that they are the bottom competitors, and they choose to use the GoPilot online customer service system. Citizens will be able to contact the town like Duke Energy or Shentel-which, by the way, is almost impossible.

If you look around our beautiful city now and think about the situation 5, 10, 15 or more years ago, it is difficult to see how much improvement has been made. I call it mediocrity in the plan. Give them a break. My guess is that a large portion of Pilot Mountain taxpayers are not born with USB ports instead of belly buttons. The town of Pilot Mountain is too small for grandma to email New Jersey about water supply issues.

Do they plan to save money by laying off another employee? Why not start with the CPD Stealth Tahoe Police Car? (Maybe Hummer will not be economical). There is no fire brigade. No snow removal. No rubbish. Law enforcement costs in Surrey County may be much cheaper.

Remember the Mount Airy News article on July 16, 2021, which printed "The city [is] considering using federal COVID funding"?

I actually read the entire American Rescue Plan Act. There is no provision for "economic development and improvement"; in particular, it does not apply to "permanent farmer's market facilities and splash pads for entertainment".

If I understand English,the bill does not stipulate expenditures for the above-mentioned purposes. However, according to Title IX-Finance Committee, Subtitle M-Coronavirus State and Local Financial Recovery Fund, Sec. is used under the auspices of Act 9901 to "make necessary investments in water, sewer or broadband infrastructure "The expenditure has been approved under the bill.

In addition, the subtitle M "provides funding for state, territorial, and tribal government payments for key capital projects that directly support work, education, and health monitoring..."

So, I ask again why do we even consider getting involved in money that is considered "free"? Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing; that is, a democratic socialist/Marxist federal government.

I just read the final draft of the development agreement signed between Sunhouse Hospitality LLC and the City of Mount Airy on July 29, 2021. This is about the responsibilities of both parties in the development of the proposed hotel and other facilities of the former Spencer property located in the heart of Mount Airy. The plan will have a significant impact on the revitalization of the city center, and both parties will assume additional financial responsibilities.

After reading all the details, I fully support the plan and will support the project in a public hearing in front of the Mount Airy Commissioner. Some people say this is a waste of taxpayers' money, and developers should take all risks and only provide funds for the project. On the contrary, the project’s public-private partnership is the best approach.

Rebuilding old factories with environmental problems and damaged infrastructure has its challenges, but in the long run, this is a responsible approach. Many industrial cities across the country have transformed old factories and steel plants into housing and entertainment centers. Look at the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, Maryland, where an old power plant was turned into an arts and entertainment district.

Look at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where a steel mill has become a "Steel Stacks" entertainment venue.

Look at the Trenton area of my hometown. New Jersey. The John A. Roebling Steel and Wire Works factory has been turned into an office building, market-priced housing and retail shopping space here.

Rebuilding and reusing old buildings with good bones is better than just demolishing everything and constructing new buildings. The cost of redevelopment of these properties is higher, but it also preserves the history of our industrial revolution.

The City of Mount Airy pledged to redevelop the former Spencer property and will commit to completing the project in the future. This is an effective public-private partnership, and I look forward to seeing the development agreement approved.

Aishan News published an article on the annual reunion of the descendants of Eng and Chang Bunker on July 18, 2021 (seeking a stronger friendship). However, the article did not mention that Eng and Chang Bunker were slave owners and slave traders.

On September 29, 1845, Bunkers bought two children from Thomas F. Prather for $450, aged 7-1/2 and 5-1/2. They are just two of the large number of slaves bought and sold in the bunker.

The Thai ambassador to the United States, Manasvi Srisodapo, was quoted as saying: “When thinking of the twins, “we see pioneering spirit in them,” Ambassador Srisodapo said at noon on Saturday. The party said. "They symbolize hard work, an entrepreneurial spirit. "

Does Ambassador Sri Sordarbo know their history?

Under the misleading of the symbols of slavery, statues of Confederate military leaders are being demolished. But we must not choose between "what we like" and "what we don't want to talk about."

The online resource used to verify slave ownership and slave trading in the bunker is the UNC Chapel Hill Library, the Southern History Collection. This is the address: https://dc.lib.unc.edu/cdm/compoundobject/collection/bunkers/id/494/rec/1

Martha Truskolaski, a local gift shop operator, recently made a compelling argument to the city council that public toilets are needed at the “forgotten end” of downtown streets. [See "City Businessmen Urges'Uptown' Toilets" in The Mount Airy News, July 25th. ]

With all due respect, Mayor Niland (a good person!), there is really no need to pass Ms. Truskolaski’s reasonable request to one of the vision committees led by the commissioner—most people know that the committee was established to advocate for everyone The commissioner’s pet provides funding items/s, and the commissioner does not have to paste his or her name on it.

Instead of causing unnecessary delays in responding to Ms. Truskolaski's request, why not use some common sense and the city's existing resources (ie knowledgeable people) to gather financial impact information to speed up the problem resolution?

As for common sense, this is fairly standard knowledge—in terrible emergencies—men (biological men, that is...for our overly sober members of society) are capable of implementing the obnoxious but very effective “open air” "The solution is urgently needed; and women (again-biological) cannot easily participate in the same problem-solving solution. (If the previous statement does not make sense to the male members of the city council, I implore them to ask the women in their lives to explain.) Therefore, on the basis of meeting at least 50% of the basic needs, the tourist population should be established on both ends of the street. A public toilet is meaningful.

In order to obtain the relevant data needed to make wise fiscal decisions, the city council should simply ask the city manager to appoint a responsible staff member—a person who is proficient in building/construction issues and city regulations/requirements—to talk to. The home contractor estimated the cost and associated timetable of building a modest, modern public toilet, which will help meet the needs of shoppers and visitors at the northern end of the central shopping area.

Of course, compared to the millions of dollars that have been wasted on Spencers, any amount of money spent on such an important “relief project” will make better use of the money — and more money is destined to become the city "Alms" for corporate welfare. Preferential status organization.

The United States has nearly $30 trillion in debt, but Mr. Biden insists on expanding our already bloated welfare state. Paying for it means printing more paper money and risking serious inflation.

Germany printed so much worthless money in the 1920s that people burned it for heating; it was cheaper than wallpaper, so they put wallpaper on the wall. The value of the currency dropped rapidly, and the price of a cup of coffee at noon was even higher than at 9 a.m. Peasants refuse to sell agricultural products in worthless currency, replacing currency with barter, and hoarding further raises prices. Life savings were destroyed, political chaos brought Hitler's Nazis to power, and World War II soon followed. In 1948, bartering was still common, usually with coffee or cigarettes as the unit of value.

Excessive printing of money keeps the Democratic Party in power but threatens the stability of American citizens

This is a reference to the July 16 article "Cities Consider Using Federal COVID Funds."

I urge the committee members to ask themselves if there are warnings—conditions attached while “thinking” about the US$2.9 million. For example, does it force critical racial theory (Marxism) to be squeezed into the throats of our children in public or charter schools? Do you really want your children and grandchildren to be instilled in Marxist dogma?

Nothing is free; especially when it comes from the Biden government (or who now actually manages the federal government). What are all the strings? Can citizens of Mount Airy afford these strings financially or essentially?

I am deeply saddened to read the news of the death of coach Alex Gibbs. When Coach Gibbs was a football coach in 1966, I was a teacher/assistant principal at Mount Airy High School for several years (JD Bartley was the principal).

Since the retirement of coach Wallace Shelton in the late 1950s, the Mount Airy High School football team has had little or no notable success. When Coach Gibbs publicly promised that the Mount Airy High School football team would win the state championship within three years, his intentions as a coach were transparent. He did better than that. The Mount Airy High School football team won the State 3-A Football Championship in two years-1968.

For several years, the Mount Airy High School Sports Team has competed against schools with higher enrollment in 3-A competitions. In the 1960s, the enrollment rate of Mount Airy High School was 1-A, just as it is now.

On Thanksgiving Day in 1968, the State 3-A Football Championship was played against Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem at the Wallace Shelton Stadium in Mount Airy High School. It was Coach Gibbs who brought Coach Jerry Hollingsworth to Mount Airy High School as his assistant coach. When Coach Gibbs left to become an assistant coach at Duke University, Coach Hollingsworth succeeded him as head coach. He continued the extraordinary victory started by coach Gibbs.

In 1966, under the leadership of coach Gibbs, Mount Airy's football team won their first division championship in eighteen years. In 1967, the team won the scoring zone again with an 8-2 record, and then lost to Elgin 13-6 in the playoffs. In 1968, Mount Airy's record was 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss against Pisgah in the final regular season. The team swept the playoffs with a big score, beating South Alamez 47-7, Brevard 13-0, and Mount Tabor 19-0 (the score of the previous Mount Tabor game was 20-0. ). The assistant coaches for the state championship team are Jerry Hollingsworth, David Diamont and Tom Hager. These three have become very successful head coaches in the next few years.

Coach Gibbs was successful because of his winning attitude, his high focus on goals, his enthusiasm and his dedication to other coaches and players. He has the ability to ask players to do their best, while respecting their abilities and dignity. He set an example for his players, and they admire his leadership.

On Friday night of the game, Coach Gibbs will assign assistant coaches to scout future opponents. On Friday night after the game, coach Gibbs and his assistant coach met with future game scouts to prepare for the game next Friday. Such strong dedication and his other leadership qualities led to the state championship winning a larger school.

In addition to coaching skills, Coach Gibbs is also an excellent classroom teacher. He demonstrated the same skills and attitude in the classroom as in the football field.

Mount Airy High School is fortunate to have Alex Gibbs as a coach and instructor. His leadership, character, and personality enable him to succeed in college-level schools and NFL teams, just like he did at Mount Airy High School.

Joe Biden is following the instructions of his handlers in the Democratic Party.

Under their guidance, he is using your and my tax money to buy more votes. His expansion of the US welfare state may cost trillions of dollars, but he hopes that those who receive new benefits (preschool education, free colleges, cash grants) will rely more and more on the government and reliably vote for the Democratic Party.

Similarly, he was instructed to open the southern border to thousands of uncensored illegal immigrants, some of whom were sick and others criminal, and secretly transplanted them to several states that were unwilling to accept them, the most recent one was Tennessee.

The Democrats pretended to be sympathetic and expanded their voting base again, ignoring the increased risk of infection and crime in Tennessee and elsewhere.

Please don't blame me, I voted for Trump.

Personal political commentary has no place in the sports world. period. If athletes want to express their political views, they should express them according to their own time... and with their own money.

Gwen Berry (Gwen Berry) won third place in the hammer throw of the US Olympic trials. When the American flag was raised and the national anthem was played, she turned around impolitely and wore a "radical athlete" shirt. Covered her and her head. Two teammates (respectively winning gold and silver medals) stood on the medal podium in recognition of their performance in the Olympic qualifiers.

Given that Ms. Berry’s previous and recent actions have shown her aversion to American values and the songs/symbols that express those values, and given that she has no respect for her teammates (they should fully enjoy their moments of collective recognition), Ms. Berry Should be expelled from the US team.

In any sporting event, millions of proud Americans who disagree with Ms. Berry’s Marxist views should not be influenced by her political antics—especially events designed to determine the composition of the U.S. Olympic team. So, Ms. Berry, either put on your team uniform to represent the United States in the Olympics, or turn off your performance!

I am writing in response to a letter about the downtown auto show ("Readers' attention to downtown events", June 20).

It is disappointing to hear about commercial attacks on individuals, who worked very hard to organize and carry out this event. I can't believe retailers complain that there are too many people in the city center. Of course, it will bring challenges, and may even cause inconvenience to some people, but it will also bring more challenges to other companies.

I noticed that the author didn't mention that retailers illegally reserved places on Main Street (I witnessed this firsthand), or told people that they must move (I witnessed this firsthand). When I checked last time, the street is not owned by the retailer, but by the taxpayer.

I saw that the author mentioned that blocking the storefront is a huge disadvantage. If a car blocks their storefront, what do they think of Autumn Leaves? At least during the auto show, you can walk on the sidewalk.

As for blatantly ignoring people’s livelihood, if one day of the month will accomplish or destroy your business, you may need to reconsider your career.

Everything has its advantages and disadvantages, but DBA and Phil Marsh did a good job at these auto shows, and they continue to grow. This helps to promote the city center and Mount Airy. I think this is the whole point of tourism. My guess is that this is more about personality (or problem) than about auto shows.

I was on a business trip in Mount Airy and took this opportunity to run and walk on the Granite City Greenway. This is the most enjoyable experience. The greenway is well maintained and very clean. People have many opportunities to use fitness equipment, and if they want, they can easily travel to the Ararat River.

I want to thank the Department of Parks and Recreation for its excellent work in keeping the greenways pruned and kept in good condition. In addition, I want to thank the citizens and governing bodies of Mount Airy for making this a reality.

I am worried about how these events work. The event didn't start until 4pm, but they banned parking from at least 6am. Event runner Phil Marsh asked people to move and reserve a place for his friend in their car. The blockade of stores is also a huge disadvantage for all business owners whose income has been hit hard, because everything is blocked. He blocked the road at 1:30-why was it two and a half hours early?

If the incident is managed according to the conditions they said, but they closed Main Street, everyone should be grateful for losing our normal business, because it attracted a lot of people. Many people just sit down to stop the business and move around without any sales, but it seems that there is a lot of business going on, and it just looks like a toilet.

We need events, but we need events that will not hinder the completion of normal business. This kind of blatant disregard for people's livelihoods can only happen, because most people here are small business owners who know that when confronting people like Marsh and Morrison, their voices will not be heard or listened to. If you do this near a large company, it is intolerable-they will stop it and will be thanked for doing so.

When businesses on the street close and cease business, will everyone be satisfied? When can these small business owners who just want to support their families take a break? Please ask event organizers to follow the rules and stop unnecessarily closing streets. thank you for your time.

For years, city officials have claimed that our town’s financial performance is comparable to the state average. For many years, we have been talking nonsense that is consistent with the report of the State Secretary of Finance. Our performance is very bad, both in our peer group over 40 years old, and in the state average of all towns and cities. City officials tried to "say that was not the case," but the state government said it was true. (That famous quote comes from the 1919 World Series scandal). This has been the case in our town for many years, and it continues.

The state shows more than 90 line items with per capita comparisons, which makes it "Apple vs. Apple". Capital per capita shows the income of every man, woman, and child in the town; just like a grocery store shows how much per ounce. These summary line items describe all the needs:

1. Total income: Our total income is 25% higher than average.

2. Total expenditure: We spend 27% more than average

3. Total cost wages and salaries: Our cost is 58% higher than the average.

4. Capital expenditures: Although city leaders claim that we are not spending enough on major projects, our performance is at an average level. The state government says this is one of the few areas where we are on average, but some officials (plus our Charlotte consultants) are pushing to borrow millions of dollars for problematic things.

We are in the 10,000 to 50,000 population group, but just barely, so we also studied the next smaller group, 5,000 to 10,000. There are nearly 100 towns in that group, but we also looked terrible there. The performance of the past few years has been equally bad.

For those who say our labor costs are satisfactory, we question the research they cited. Are they as biased as the previous municipal unions? Do they only measure the salary range, while the country measures the total cost? These are two very different things. If the salary range is normal, but our expenditure is 158% of the average, it must mean that we have more employees. We didn't just pick this item, even if it was shocking; we were out of time in most other spending areas.

The national report is complicated, but the aggregated items of total revenue and total expenditure show shameful facts. These comparisons have been taken to city forums many times, but to no avail. In most cases, they are ignored. An official believes that the difference is that some towns use external contractors and/or charge additional fees. Some do, but the indicators of total income and total expenditure include these dollars, so there is no explanation. Another official said that the tourism industry needs more spending. We say there may be a little but not huge difference.

Our comparison includes 140 towns, and you can bet many of them will attract many tourists. The most important thing is that we get more than others, but we also spend all of it, and then spend some. Officials use the old baseball saying "say it's not the case" just deny it, or worse. Remember, these numbers come from the state government.

Our urban population is declining, while city taxes are constantly rising. Some committee members hope to increase sales tax, new pre-prepared meal tax, and some additional costs for city services. The city government is almost the only thing growing in the town. Some very basic things were broken, and now it's time to fix it.

I want to thank Dr. Steve Yokley for his vision for all citizens of Mount Airy and Surrey County.

I have seen how he helped children and youth while living in Dobson, and he now cares about Mount Airy and Surrey Counties as a thriving community for all, regardless of their politics.

I am disappointed with the decision to dismantle the Coke machine in the government building. This does not help encourage other companies to settle here.

We have not seen slave owners or slaves in the United States since Lincoln, but we white people have been accused of keeping black people under control for a long time and preventing them from fully participating in the wealth of the United States.

Although many of our families did not arrive until long after 1863, whites were still accused of prolonging post-liberation slavery; we were told that Jim Crow and continued discrimination hindered blacks and must do further Compensation to eliminate the historical injustice of slave ownership.

This narrative, and the need for atonement it hopes to create, has been the means by which many American politicians rise. The white people are accused of needing to repent, which justifies the LBJ ballot event "Great Society". Not only is it very expensive (more than $22 trillion since 1965), it also elected many Democratic politicians as planned, and undermined professional ethics and black families; the victimized narrative provided many blacks with excuses for failure and reasons for not working hard. .

Therefore, when we hear this cliché that accuses white people and urges compensation, we must forgive us for thinking that this is just another cynical political strategy that should be ignored for the benefit of blacks and whites.

Thanks to Mount Airy City Commissioner Jon Cawley for introducing common sense and financial responsibility into the latest debate about city employee salary increases. [See "City Budget Adopted in 2021-22" in Airy Mountain News, June 9. ] Jon Cawley’s assessment is accurate: due to current mismanagement, the city’s personnel costs are unsustainable.

Unfortunately for Commissioner Cowley, he faced short-sighted colleagues and weak city managers who did nothing to manage expectations related to labor costs. Have you ever shared communications with all employees about the city’s financial restrictions (including the city’s 27.5% employee health insurance coverage) to explain why salary increases might need to be temporarily suspended? New fiscal year? If the city is a for-profit company (or just a well-run municipality), then some important managers and collective-thinking commissioners have long been invited to withdraw from the board of directors.

It's also alarming that both our elected and employed overseers of the city's welfare believe that giving annual raises is the only way to retain employees and maintain an engaged workforce. Traditionally, there would not be a large outflow of employees-because the 173 employees who will be affected by the decision are not stupid. In fact, they will not give up high-paying jobs, which include lucrative retirement plans and fully paid medical insurance-especially when medical insurance premiums soar every year. In addition, many studies have shown that factors such as appreciation for work well done, professional development opportunities, and rich benefits are more important than salary to retain employees—especially if the organization’s goal is to create and maintain an organization. Support a satisfactory and efficient workforce.

Finally, why do cities’ backup positions always simply hire new people when positions are vacant? If there are currently 8 vacant positions on the city’s payroll, it is time to reassess priorities and work processes in order to reduce labor costs by eliminating vacant positions; not people.

As we all know, "the best time of the year" is a song we sing at Christmas, but I look at it from another angle. It is spring in Airy Mountain, and summer is just around the corner. Everyone is saying, "Let us lift the lockdown, restrictions and masks, and let the COVID disappear behind us."

From the appearance of things-we have.

Most importantly, churches and places of worship have been reopened. People can visit nursing homes and nursing homes again, because the elderly who have been hit hardest by the virus can now see their family and friends and regain entertainment/entertainment.

The city center began to welcome tourists and tourists from all over the state and all over the country. Maybury is still alive.

Don’t forget that the Blackmond Amphitheater and Earl Theatre have live music every weekend.

Tanya Jones and her Surry Art Committee members, Randy Collins and the Chamber of Commerce, our museum staff, Phil Marsh and antique cars/cruise ships, all shop merchants and our selection of dining establishments, motels and many others work endlessly To ensure that our out-of-town guests have an unforgettable visit. Mayor Ron Niland and our commissioners (city and county) and all of our city and county staff are working hard to make this city look like a showcase—a place where we can all be proud of our lives.

It's time to go out and enjoy Mount Airi-the best town in the world.

I have visited the "Mayberry" mountain Aili, which is suitable for out-of-towners many times.

Your town is famous for its friendliness, but I'm not sure if I will feel welcome. I see that your county commissioner wants to ban Coca-Cola because the company opposes certain laws that restrict voting in Georgia? It's as if Sheriff Taylor was sent outside the city to harass the wayward Yankee tourists, who were looking for a can of Coke.

In any case, it is not friendly to confuse politics with refreshments, and in the past, even the deputy fife would know the difference. Aunt Bee would think this is really rude. Do you really want your town to be famous for political pranks?

Leaving aside the fact that our elected officials turned a blind eye to the $1.73 million federal grant clause they recently accepted due to the city’s lack of due diligence, I’m frustrated that Commissioner Steve Yokley would object to the city’s needs and now comply with one of the clauses. -That is, to create a complaint procedure for cases involving housing discrimination [see "Yokeley Opposition to Housing Complaint Procedure" in Mount Airy News issued on May 12].

I’m also disappointed by Commissioner Yorkley’s seemingly ignorant assessment of renters—he seems to believe that they are committed to blackmailing landlords by falsely claiming discriminatory prejudice. Yokley’s comments and the hypothetical case of potential renters he cited (“low credit score, criminal record '50 pages'”) show that renters are less trustworthy than landlords when attempting to conduct standard commercial transactions.

I am ashamed of Commissioner Yokeley for having such a bad attitude-it has a taste of classism and racism. With such a suspicious mentality, Steve Yokley should perhaps abandon his position as city commissioner. By doing this, he can free up that position and let a more enlightened person take on this important role; he can devote himself to his real estate business.

The committee members’ recent knee-jerk reaction to Coca-Cola’s decision on Georgia’s new laws was inappropriate. Coca-Cola will not notice that the Surrey County machine has been dismantled. A company that sent Marjorie Taylor Greene to Congress had no conscience or sense of shame, so this move would not be noticed.

I want to thank the two members who did not participate in the decision.

At least this time, the financial cost will not equal the cost of replacing the financial institution.

On this Memorial Day, let us remember and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice through our thoughts, prayers and actions. I encourage all veterans to join a service organization to help represent and support veterans and their families, as well as active military personnel and their relatives. In my case, I serve VFW.

VFW is a non-profit veterans service organization composed of qualified veterans and military personnel from active duty, guards, and reserve forces. VFW and its supporting agencies are committed to veterans services, legislative advocacy, and military and community service programs.

American citizens or nationals who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces in foreign wars or overseas operations in South Korea after June 30, 1949 and received campaign medals, as well as recipients of hostile firepower or imminent hazard pay. Veterans who participated in World War II, North Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Somalia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and other small expeditionary battles and occupation missions are eligible.

More than 1.5 million VFW and auxiliary members are located in all 50 states and many foreign territories. More than 6,000 positions worldwide include 52 departments in 50 states, Asia Pacific and Europe. The posts constitute the basic local chapters. Our top legislative issues are 1) Congress should provide full funding for plans for veterans, service personnel and their families, and 2) provide service personnel and veterans with timely and high-quality healthcare services without increasing cost sharing.

Please visit VFW.ORG for more information and join veterans or auxiliary members at the VFW post office in Mount Airy, Pilot Mountain or Elgin.

Thankfully, the Commissioner of Surrey County has some truth. Larry Johnson may hold Coca-Cola stock; therefore, he tried to abstain from voting.

In any case, I hope that Surrey County’s boldness will extend to all forms of attempts to transform our democracy into socialism that only benefits those in power (for example, the 1619 project, critical racial theory, awakening mathematics): one-party government, large-scale Technology companies, and "new" elites.

Thanks to Surrey County Commissioner Eddie Harris for his courage and common sense in calling on The Coca-Cola Company to be ignorant of Georgia Senate 202 and its blatant racism and "abolition of culture" practices in the organization .

Congratulations to Commissioner Van Tucker for supporting the "Message" vote, which will result in the removal of Coke machines from all government facilities in Surrey County. [See "Coke Machines Prohibited in County Facilities" in the May 21 issue of "Ailishan News". ]

There is no "Wake-up Coke" in my storage room anymore.

Recently, the Democratic left has told us that the economic success of the United States is attributed to "white privilege", which means that white people have better connections and therefore higher income; non-white people are treated poorly and earn less.

But I disagree with the experience of successful whites and blacks: the difference in income is not in the skin color, but in insisting (or not insisting) on the following middle-class values: (1) Graduate from high school, find a job, and stick to it; (2) High school Only get married after graduation and employment; there are no extramarital children; (3) stay sober and avoid idleness, crime, and addiction.

Whites or blacks who follow these simple rules are more likely to become high-income earners.

Measures need to be taken against all the American flags that are so dilapidated and fluttering all over the county. From private owners to county buildings, the lack of respect for the American flag makes the people of this country very embarrassed.

As Memorial Day approaches, out of respect for our country and the people who died for it, the flags on county buildings need to be replaced.

Everyone, we are still under the masked authorization.

As a person who likes to travel at home and abroad, I have a responsibility to understand the laws between states or between states. It is also my responsibility to comply with the above-mentioned laws. The laws are in place. It is not a question of what you think they should be, but a question of responsibility and respect.

In the past year, American travelers have become the rudeest people in the world. Their temper, the language they use and the opinions they like to share are absolutely disrespectful, shameful, rude, and illegal in many places.

Are you aware that the person you are attacking will not make laws, but will enforce them for you. You want things to be public, well, this is what our frontline staff are trying to do. It's very simple, follow the posted guidelines, if you don't understand, ask. Don't be rude and rude, and don't ignore the content posted. If you are unwilling to follow, at least stay outside with kindness and leave your opinions to yourself. Guys, no matter where you live, if you are in Mount Airy, which is North Carolina, please follow our rules and laws. As each state relaxes its guidelines, as a guest to another state, it is your responsibility to understand the relevant regulations. Respect for others is also your responsibility.

Sadly, this applies to our compatriots in North Carolina, and even more sadly, some people are in our own towns. Kind people. Our frontline people are tired.

The New Testament tells us to give "Caesar" to "Caesar". For many years, "we the people" have been dedicated to the federal, state, county, and city levels. However, one day, even Caesar will surpass, and the people will say: "Enough!"

If the Federal Department of Education, North Carolina Department of Education, Surrey County, and/or Mount Airy School Board require professors to awaken liberals’ 1619 project agenda, critical racial theory, and/or fair mathematics, in public schools, then for those who rely on public schools For educated people, "Enough!" is an effective way. It is to keep green; the dollar, which is the portion allocated from federal income and property taxes.

Yes, those who withhold U.S. dollars may be subject to "money penalties"; however, when multiple people are withheld to the designated escrow account together, you actually have a "Boston Tea Party" without violence.

Different from the non-representation problem of the pre-Boston Tea Incident, we are now facing the situation that all our K-12 public education students can teach by implementing the law:

– Their country is systemic racist,

– The “correct” color, namely black, is the most important; contrary to Dr. Martin Luther King’s view that everyone should not be judged “on the basis of skin color, but on the basis of their character content” (https://shre .america.gov/life-legacy-martin-luther-小王/),

– "Fairness" (a mediocre result) is more important than equal opportunities for success in the effort to achieve life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness, and

– The offender is not held accountable; on the contrary, there is no justice for any victim.

"We the people" who believe in the solution should, of course, work together to develop a curriculum to improve our children's education; not social or political propaganda.

Any citizen who is aware of but not WOKE is tired of the democratic/socialist government telling us what we can and cannot do:

– Without proof of COVID-19 vaccination, they cannot fly domestically or internationally; while illegal immigrants who have crossed our southern open border are “welcomed”, “processed” and transported to all parts of the United States by public transportation without being tested or vaccinated vaccine;

– Unable to enter the People’s Chamber (Parliament) because it is strengthened to “protect” and “defend” the ruling democratic/socialist government; it has not formulated reasonable safety precautions;

– Due to insufficient funds in the police department, the qualified immune defense system was cancelled, so it was impossible to purchase self-defense weapons without crossing new and more restrictive “must do” requirements; and police thugs/robbers and shooters He was released on bail by Harris and others. And was never prosecuted,

– We must not be proud of our country by abolishing culture, WOKE, and any other anti-democratism that restricts our constitution and civil rights; the 1619 plan, critical racial theory, and fair mathematics are required by executive orders.

In addition, the government’s current large expenditures like planting on trees are unsustainable and have placed a greater burden on responsible taxpayers. They must balance their budgets, but at the same time, they must benefit only a few people. Project payment.

In essence, the United States is no longer united. Biden and others have actually divided the country into many "groups" (those "acceptable" and "unacceptable"), so that in order to advance the ultimate goal of democratic/socialist government, we are entangled with each other!

I would like to invite everyone to participate in the Easter Brothers Mural Dedication on May 15th from 1pm to 2pm. Jeff and Sheri Easter and James and Denise Easter will be there.

Most importantly, I want to thank God for making this wonderful mural possible.

I am very grateful to many people for helping to make this possible. I am particularly grateful to the following companies and people: Cossi Ayers, Mayberry Trading Post; Lizzie Morrison, Mount Airy City Center; Mount Airy City and Mount Airy Police Station; Mount Airy Tourism and Visitor Center; Horizon Rental Elevator; Xuanwei Williams , Adam Atkins Paint; Tim White, artist; Interstate Sign Corporation; Maybury Motel; WPAQ, Tim Frye and Kelly Epson; Surrey County Commissioner;

CF Jones; Delicious Lunch; Pioneer Printing Company; Surrey Art Council; Frank Welch and Sons; Easter Brothers Family; Jeff and Shirley Easter and Family; Jerry Daycare; Maybury Country; Michael Bo Gus Construction; Maybury Music Center; Atlantic Coast Sports; Cook Rentals; Mount Airy Tractor Co/Toy Store; Grant Welch; Tammy Miller; Fair Marsh and Downtown Business Association; Red Line Cleaning Service ; And all the churches that have helped.

The goal has been reached.

The President of the United States of America regards this country as a systemic racist. The Vice President of the United States believes that one of the greatest threats to the country is domestic terrorism by white supremacists.

Well, since our founding fathers committed to building a country where "all men are created equal" in 1776, we have indeed made considerable progress. Today, with the help and instigation of a group of fanatical radical leftist disciples (also known as democratic socialists/progressives), the two top leaders of the country are using their favorite propaganda tools (blacks are also fate, mainstream The media, timid companies, and social media commentators of large technology companies) quickly turned a country of citizens who love freedom, hard work, and independent thinking into a totalitarian quagmire, where all people, all actions, and all communications Observe and describe through the racial prism.

We are not a country, but a country divided by tribes, tribes use hyphens to indicate primary and secondary allegiance. We are now defined as African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, Native American, and lower-case white American color-coded groups, rather than "Americans."

Today, "equality" has been put aside to make way for the Marxist concept of fairness-which requires people to judge according to their skin color and personal circumstances; it is not the content of their character (like Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream). In addition, critical racial theory-demonizing the deceased and living whites and their cultural contributions by promoting the false notion that "white supremacy" is at the core of all social ills-is being forcibly instilled in our children by the education system. Quietly accepted the new role of indoctrination rather than education.

Just 13 years ago, "we, the people" elected a black man as president, and did so again four years later! A large number of smart, hardworking, extremely confident and capable blacks and other minorities are in government, education, business, healthcare, military, art, and entertainment.

Today, the extremely wealthy organization known as Black Lives Matter (BLM) has been given a lofty and seemingly sacred status by individuals and groups in our society, even though a major leader in New York proudly announces its use Use appropriate violence to achieve the desired results. If BLM is any other organization, it may be classified as a domestic terrorist organization.

Today, law enforcement agencies have been severely weakened, disintegrated, demoralized, and funding shortages, so that the police cannot continue to work because they are afraid of being accused of violence or racism by the mob of fanatical political activists and instigators in the media—the biggest of them. Most people prefer “group photos” during prime time rather than off-screen meetings to conduct meaningful conversations and improve police professionalism.

Today, "hate" is no longer just a negative emotion, it can be used to blame crime on the motive of crime. Now, this is a crime of its own-a crime based on skin color, and another that requires federal intervention and more severe penalties for convicted criminals.

Today, American conservatives of all skin colors are slandered and silenced for fear of being called "racists" or "sellers" by socialist puppets. These puppets continue to use racial cards to profit economically and politically. . In fact, for many years, individuals and groups that have profited from the idea of black perpetual victimization and continue to profit have been called by courageous prominent figures-starting with the educator Booker T. Washington in 1911 until Continue today with author Taleb Starks, civil rights lawyer Leo Turrell, political commentator Candace Owens, and most recently US Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina.

Although the harsh reality of racism has always plagued our land; similarly, in the past 100 years or more, we have made significant progress towards the ideal of a "more perfect alliance." We are not a country full of systemic racism. Ironically, under the current Biden/Harris administration, we are rapidly and dangerously transforming into a country infected by systemic reverse racism. As Senator Scott brilliantly pointed out in a recent TV show: "Using bigotry to fight bigotry is hypocritical."

At some point, I believe that "we, the people"-all skin colors, races, religions, genders (biological or self-identified), sexual persuasion, etc.-will work hand in hand to uphold equality, fairness, shared feelings and dignity/ Mutual respect is restored as the basic principles and values that we use to help heal ourselves...and our country.

For those of us who can speak freely without worrying about being fired, now is the time. For those of us who champion freedom and civil liberties, it is time to stop consuming the goods and services of companies that have succumbed to the radical left’s agenda. We can no longer stand idly by and turn a deaf ear to the shameless lies, practices, plans, and ruthless propaganda of the radical left-wing elites — if left unchecked, it will ensure that a United Nations where all Americans have equal opportunities for life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness will eventually be destroyed.

In his speech on Wednesday night, Mr. Biden brought us more gifts: in addition to free medical care and generous stimulus checks, free education and free childcare services were added.

We are told that the president loves us and even provides free health advice: ("...don’t take off the mask...") He bought all these good things with other people’s money; when the money runs out, he will increase Our taxes and eventually printed more paper money.

When we receive his free things, we should remember (a) he is buying votes, and (b) nothing is really free.

After reading the "Garden Conspiracy" in the Sunday newspaper, I felt a little frustrated with Mr. Baird's passage about feeding hummingbirds. I have always found that experts recommend a water to sugar ratio of 4:1. Experts also recommend skipping red food coloring. This is not required and may actually hurt the little Hummer.

I have been feeding them for many years and I have never added food coloring. I find that they are very satisfied with the clear nectar and my hummingbird population is increasing every year.

Benefits and risks: Last year, more than 42,000 people died in car accidents and 4.8 million people were seriously injured; 3,000 people died from taking aspirin every year.

Participating in sports, going to the hospital, and even eating all have measurable risks. In each case, the benefits outweigh the risks, so we continue to drive, eat, and take aspirin.

Life has never been without risks, but our politicians somehow became our doctors. They decided that no matter how small the risk of the new crown virus was, they were unacceptable; they ordered a lockdown, ignoring the serious economic consequences. Without some face-to-face, face-to-face interaction, business activities will disappear, and profits, wages, and take-home wages will follow.

On the front page of the Mount Airy newspaper last Thursday (March 18, 2021), a brief summary of recent public shootings in Georgia was published. A young white man apparently had mental problems. Like anyone who committed a mass shooting, he killed a handful of people, most of them Asian women, who were in a massage parlour located in an area that seemed to be motivated for sexual entertainment. Work.

The author of that news article stated that the rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans was due to white supremacy. It seems that since President Obama took office, all problems in the United States have been due to whites, white Christians, and/or white men and their supremacy.

So I started to do some research on the Internet. I used the Google search engine to search for "Hate Crime Facts Against Asians in the United States". The first three stories I read were about black Americans physically assaulting Asians. A young Spanish man stabbed an entire Asian family including two young children.

I continued to do more research and found a mobile phone video on a subway train. The video showed a large group of young black Americans beating an older Asian man over and over again. I continued to do more research, and the results surprised me, especially because the author of Thursday’s Mount Airy News article claimed that hate crimes against Asians were carefully planned by white supremacy.

How does Airy Mountain begin to conduct fact-checking of all these white supremacy claims, especially those published in our town’s newspapers, and then let the public know the truth? The accusation game and mass hatred against the white American race is getting out of control. If it continues, the United States will only become a more violent place full of hatred and divisions than ever before.

I think asking white people to apologize for being white is racist. If I overheard someone asking black people to apologize for being black, I might very actively drive that racist away from the neighborhood. During the active US military, I participated in many different competitions, including two trips to Afghanistan. My only child is half Korean, one of my nephew and niece is black, and we will contact every week. This kind of racism is brewing to a degree that far exceeds the actual reality.

Look at how many whites are killed by the police every year compared to blacks. Look at the percentage of slave owners during the peak period of slavery, and you will be shocked. Look at how many white people fought to end slavery during the civil war in our country. See how many crimes black Americans have committed against white Americans, visas/or vice versa. The real facts are there, people, check it out before you openly and falsely accuse the whole group. We all need to stop hating each other and start to listen to and help each other, lest America be destroyed beyond repair.

Editor's note: The questionable article "The Motivation of the Police Investigating the Georgia Homicide" was written by the Associated Press. The author did not state that the shooting was the result of white supremacy. The author did quote Asian Americans advancing justice-Atlanta, where the organization mentioned that "white supremacy and systemic racism" contributed to violence against Asian Americans. This is the only mention of white supremacy in this 1,000-word article.

We want everyone to think about it. If we can order that everyone wear masks wherever they go, why can't we order the restoration of comfortable and breathable legs while maintaining modesty and dignity?

For men and women of all ages, this can be easily solved by removing trousers altogether, but bringing back tunics, short skirts, long skirts, dresses and petticoats for everyone. The petticoat can also provide an extra layer of protection to prevent too much air over there.

This will also cover the requirements of James Holmes ("Does the Baggy britches requirement be required?" Mount Airy News, March 12) to solve the problem of slacks that have plagued our cities and counties for many years. No one wants to see this. We are tired of watching, we should do something.

Where is the authorization?

Susan Rosenberg and Amy Franklin

We want everyone to think about it. If we can have an authorization that requires everyone to wear masks wherever they go, ("Baggy britches authorization is needed?" March 12, Mount Airy News) Why can't we authorize bringing back the cloak to solve the loose breeches?

We are tired of the lack of class caused by the insufficient use of such cloaks and belts. We do not need to directly solve the problem of slacks proposed by James Holmes; we need to solve the problem of the lack of cloaks, which is an outrage. Do you have no style? The cloak can also be a political statement that goes hand-in-hand with the mask.

Where is the authorization?

Silas Robinson and Alistair Foster

I want everyone to think about it. If we can have a rule that we wear masks wherever we go, why can't we stipulate that everyone should not have their backs and their underwear should sag? I'm tired of seeing this, and I should take some measures about it.

Where is the authorization?
